Killik & Co was co-founded by Paul Killik and Matthew Orr, opening the doors to its flagship branch in Chelsea in 1989.
 
Matthew led the firm as both Managing Partner and Chief Executive until 2006, when he stepped away from the business. He remains an active member of the Partnership.  For two years, Matthew operated as the Founding Director of Debenhams Investment Service, that operated out of the Debenhams Money Centres - the first non-financial services business to receive London Stock Exchange membership.
 
In 1996, Matthew co-founded ShareGift with Claire Mackintosh - an initiative that allows small shareholdings to be donated to benefit charitable causes – over £50m has been made in donations to-date.  Both founders were awarded the Beacon Fellowship Prize in 2006 for their work.
 
In 2018 Matthew and his wife, Sybil Robson Orr, co-founded The Robson Orr Ten Ten Award – a 10-year initiative that commissions artwork by British artists for government buildings around the world. Each year, a talented British artist is chosen to create a unique print for the Government Art Collection. with an emphasis on supporting under-represented and emerging artists for the collection.
 
In 2024, Matthew and his wife, Sybil Robson Orr, were also awarded the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to society, embodying the values of patriotism, diversity, and inclusion.
 
Matthew continues to manage the Orr Impact Fund, which provides both financial investment and support to various funds in the areas of green energy, education, blockchain, health and wellness, innovation and life sciences.
